Mallory is progressing along nicely. They're theorizing she has RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) even though she tested negative. Either way she ended up with Bronchiolitis which is inflamation inside her lungs. The biggest battle is keeping her nose clear since babies can't breathe through their mouths. "Mega boogers" and "Huge boogers" are terms the nurses are using to describe her snot. She has been on oxygen since her levels were low but has been taken off because she's doing fine now. She's still getting breathing treatments every 4 hours down from every 3 so she might get to go home soon depending on how she does.
Clarian North is the hospital we're at an we can unequivocaly say that it is hands down much better than St. Vincents Women's hospital where we delivered. The nurses communicate with eachother and the doctors very well unlike what we saw at the other hospital. They're all really nice to us and seem to really know what they're doing. They've instilled a level of confidence in us that just wasn't there at St. Vincents. The facility is really nice with a computer in every room that swings around on a mount from the ceiling that allows access to the web, tv and email. Breastfeeding mothers eat for free and room service is a flat rate of $7 for breakfast/lunch and $13 for dinner. The rooms have flatscreen tvs in them but we haven't used it. The hospital would be just as good if it didn't have all the bells and whistles.
Then there's Mallory. She's sleeping mostly but when she's getting breathing treatments or being checked out she cracks a smile and has been an incredible trooper throughout it all. Everyone who comes in the room comments on how beautiful she is. Of course we already knew that. It's time for a weary and tired mom and dad to sign off now, we'll post updates later.
